The Holiday Project

The Holiday Project

In December, Living Houston partnered with The Holiday Project to bring much-needed attention and joy to the elderly. The Holiday Project’s mission is to enrich the holidays’ experience by arranging visits to people confined to nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, other institutions, and memory care.

Volunteers make one-of-a-kind creations to be delivered and enjoyed. Taking the time to love this demographic is especially important during COVID when isolation is at its peak. We can only imagine the difficulties they have endured during this unprecedented time. Doing something to put a smile on their face felt essential and necessary, and like always, our Broker and founder, Laura Weisman, found a way to turn it into a party. As a result, we had a great turn out and spread lots of holiday cheer.

The Details

Living Houston held an open event to create cards for our dearest citizens. We invited past clients and close friends to join us for a hot chocolate bar, sweet treats, and card making. The creativity each individual brought to the table was impressive. Everyone’s inner artist came out to play, and the result was truly something special.  With endless stacks of colored paper, stickers, adornments, glitter and enough hot glue sticks to make your head spin, Christmas magic was on full display. Together those in attendance created over 200 cards. And we’re certain that it brought us as much joy to make them as it brought our recipients to receive them.
