Things To Do In Sugar Land, TX

There are plenty of things in and around Sugar Land to see and do, from their resident minor league baseball team to dinosaur fossils; you’ll never be bored. 

-The Sugar Land Skeeters are Sugar Land’s minor league baseball team. Their stadium boasts skyboxes, party suites, and a picnic area. The Skeeter’s also have a play area and splash pad for the kids inside the stadium. This unique feature offers parents the luxury to watch their kids play while also watching the game. And in December, the stadium turns into a winter wonderland, decked out in over 3 million lights complete with a carnival and themed displays. 

– The Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Houston’s Children Museum is a short 20-25 drive from Sugar Land, TX. But even better, you can visit an annex of each of these museums right in Sugar Land. You can see dinosaur fossils, science experiments, and technology, as well as learn the history of Sugar Land at Sugar Land HMNS. At the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, you can visit Kidtropolis, create arts and crafts, and learn through music and science or attend weekly labs and activities that keep kids educated, entertained and engaged. 

Town Square is one of Sugar Land’s most popular attractions. With dozens of restaurants, shops, and weekly entertainment Sugar Land’s Town Square is a hot spot for nightlife and weekend plans and right next to First Colony Mall. 

Entertainment

-The Smart Financial Center is Sugar Land’s premier spot for concerts and shows. It’s ranked 7th globally in ticket sales for venues under 10,000 seats, and it also boasts an art installation on the grounds from Houston’s Museum Of Fine Arts. 

-For kids looking to stay active, Sugar Land has its own ice skating rink, gymnastics facilities, dance studios, nearby stables for horseback riding, martial arts studios, children’s theater, and musical options. There’s something for everyone.

–Sugar Land is about 20-40 minutes, depending on traffic from the renowned Houston Zoo, Houston Ballet, and The Hobby Center for the performing arts. You can watch Houston’s professional sports teams, the Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, the Houston Astros, and even their major league soccer team, the Houston Dynamo. Another plus for beach lovers, you’re only an hour’s drive from Galveston, TX, and you can make beach trips a regular occurrence.

Fort Bend ISD

The Fort Bend ISD school district is a forward-thinking, innovative school district with award-winning schools. The district is also home to the new multi-million dollar James Reese Career and Technology Center, which caters to students interested in learning a trade or prepping for a career in technology, the arts, or sciences. 

Art & Culture

Sugar Land’s Art Center and Gallery is a local non-profit organization that provides classes in all media for all ages. They hold workshops with local and nationally acclaimed artists, offer kids camps, and have a gallery. 

They also have a robust public art initiative. You will find various sculptures, statues, and memorials around the city that add to the city’s artistry. Sugar Land also has thirteen wrapped traffic signal control boxes around the city. These boxes are original, colorful, and unique works of art that add charm and beauty to the area. 

Neighborhoods

Sugar Land comprises multiple master-planned communities, including First Colony, Sugar Mill, Telfair, Riverstone, Greatwood, Sugar Creek, Sweetwater, and more. Each neighborhood has its own amenities and unique characteristics that define it. There’s a place for everyone. 

Parks

There are 27 city parks throughout Sugar Land full of nature trails, playgrounds, fitness classes, lakes, wildlife, and dog parks. Life is easily lived outdoors in Sugar Land; there are strong biking and running communities and plenty of sports teams for kids to join. You can also find nature trails, kayaking and disc golf, and plenty of lakes for fishing. They also have BMX bike tracks and a skate park for your X gamers. 

Medical

Houston houses one of the top medical centers in the world. This community has trickled out to Sugar Land and created a satellite medical center. The city is brimming with medical practitioners and specialists at the top of their field. 

Quality Of Life In Sugar Land, TX

Sugar Land has a high quality of life and a very low crime. Families spend lots of time outdoors and out-and-about in the community attending various events and enjoying life. The cost of living is attainable, and you can find a home in just about any price bracket.
